Kayuhan LTdL 2008 to generate
momentum for premier event
26/1/2008
BUKIT JALIL - Kayuhan Le Tour de Langkawi
2008 will be held on Feb 3, 2008 in an effort to generate further
momentum towards to the 13th edition of Asia's premier cycling
race next month.
The Kayuhan LTDL 2008 will be held in Putrajaya
in front of the Istana Kehakiman and where it is expected that
more than 5,000 participants will be taking part in the various
activities.
The event will be graced by either the patron
of Le Tour de Langkawi Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Prime
Minister of Malaysia or Dato' Seri Azalina Othman Said, the Minister
of Youth and Sports.
The Kayuhan LTDL 2008 is being sponsored
by Amanah Raya Berhad.
Among the events which will be held during
the Kayuhan LTDL 2008 are the 1km Bike Ride, a Charity Ride, the
giving away of bicycles to the orphans, sponsorship presentation,
lucky draws and also a display of cavalcade vehicles.
Apart from the Kayuhan LTDL 2008 in Putrajaya,
there will also be several state level activities planned in Alor
Star on Feb 9, Butterworth on Feb 10, Port Dickson on Feb 12 and
Bandar Penawar on Feb 14.
The Kayuhan LTDL 2008 is organised with
the aim of taking the race closer to the people.
To achieve this, more events will be organised
on the ground which means more carnival-like activities at all
start and finish venues. One of the side events to be included
will be cycling clinics.
One of the priorities for the Tour
this year is to promote cycling at the grass root level. This
will be done via the Rukun Tetangga and Kampung Baru programmes.
One of the other key messages will be to encourage more Malaysians
to take up cycling as a means to a healthier lifestyle.
