Summary
STAGE TWO
– Butterworth to Sitiawan
(159.7km)
Starting at the Dewan Dato' Haji
Ahmad Badawi in Jalan Bagan Luar, the race will snake through
the old streets of Butterworth and out towards Bukit Tengah and
to the first sprint at Sungai Bakap which is dotted with pre-war
shop houses on both side of the road.
The small town is also famous for its special cakes like the Chye
Kueh at Soon Lee Restaurant with patrons coming as far away as
Ipoh to savour the taste. From Jawi, the peloton will move to
Nibong Tebal before preparing for the second sprint at Bagan Serai.
The presence of scores of miniature 'Red Mansions' further down
the stage will indicate the peloton's arrival in Pantai Remis
with its many fishmongers for the third sprint. Watch out for
the headwinds in the last several kilometres before the finish
in Jalan Iskandar Shah in Sitiawan.
